Moon Angell says Duane 'Dog' Chapman asked her to move into Beth's closet: 'It wasn't a negative thing'
Duane "Dog" Chapman and Moon Angell admit to Dr. Oz that she has moved her clothes into his home. It's something that’s upset the Chapman family as it's only been seven months since Beth passed away. Dog's daughter, Lyssa, first claimed on social media that Angell "replaced" Beth's items.
"If someone who met your family by dating your brother, tried to date your father after your step- mom died what would you do," Lyssa tweeted in early January. "If you went to your mothers closet and saw she moved all her clothes and replaced them with her own, what would you do?"
In a preview for Monday's The Dr. Oz Show, Angell says Dog asked her to move into Beth's closet.
"Here's what happened. When I got into the house, he would walk by the closet and bawl, and walk by the closet and bawl," Angell explains, "and shut the door, and then open the door, and then he would go in — I think this is pretty intimate."
"Go ahead," Dog says.
"But he would smell Beth and he would go in there and sit down and cry and cry and cry," Angell continues. "And he asked me, 'Do you think that you could take Beth's things out of the closet?' So, it wasn't a negative thing. It was because he just couldn't do it anymore."
"That was tough to walk by the closet, Dog?" Dr. Oz asks.
"Well, she needs to finish the story," Dog replies. "So, once she did it, I was, like, relieved and then I walked —"
Dog is overcome with emotion.
"And then I walked by and it was empty, and I'm like, 'Oh, God,'" he continues, wiping away tears. "I said, 'Moon, put some of your stuff in there.' She said, 'No,' I said, 'Moon, it's an order.'"
There will be no shortage of emotion during their talk with Dr. Oz. Dog discusses having suicidal thoughts after Beth’s death and reveals Angell helped save his life. At one point he proposes to Angell, who was maid of honor at Dog and Beth’s 2006 wedding, although they are reportedly not engaged.
