Morgan Wallen Arrested and Charged With Reckless Endangerment in Nashville
Morgan Wallen
Morgan Wallen was arrested at a bar in Nashville this past weekend after he allegedly threw a chair from a rooftop bar.
According to the arrest affidavit obtained by NBC affiliate WSMV4, the 30-year-old country star was on the roof of Chief’s Bar around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, when witnesses watched him pick up a chair, throw it over the roof, and laugh about it.
The rooftop of the bar, which is owned by fellow country crooner Erich Church and was celebrating its grand opening this weekend, is located six stories above the city's iconic Broadway.
The official report revealed that two Metro Nashville Police Department officers were stationed below the venue and standing on Broadway when they said the chair landed three feet from them. Officers headed to the new venue to speak with staff at the bar as well as witnesses. They continued their investigation inside and reviewed the security footage, all of which confirmed Wallen's alleged actions, the affidavit explained.
The "Last Night" crooner was then arrested and booked on three counts of reckless endangerment as well as one count of disorderly conduct just after midnight. Hours later, he posted the $15,250 bond and was released from Davidson County jail around 3:30 a.m.
His lawyer provided the following statement to local ABC news affiliate WKRN 2: "At 10:53p Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities."
The arrest comes just days after Wallen kicked off his 2024 One Night at a Time Tour at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis–where he reportedly made history.
"They told me right before I walked on stage that this is the single most attended concert in the history of this building," the country singer told concert-goers, as seen in a video shared via TikTok. "And that we're the first people to do it two nights in a row. So thank you for making it possible for me to say that."
Wallen continued, joking that he would hold the record-breaking title only until Taylor Swift makes a stop at the venue as part of her popular Eras Tour stop in November.
"I'm gonna say that until Taylor Swift comes to town in the fall," he said as the crowd started booing.
"We ain't gotta boo," Wallen cried out, thanking concertgoers for their support. "I appreciate that. I know y'all got my back, though."
