SPOTIFY TO STREAM MUSIC FROM SAMSUNG TVS: Samsung Electronics Co. struck a deal with Anglo-Swedish music-streaming service Spotify Ltd. that will allow direct streaming of music from Samsung television sets. Users will need a paid premium subscription membership to access Spotify through Samsung televisions.

ROLLING STONES RELEASE NEW SINGLE:The Rolling Stones today announced the release of a new single “Doom and Gloom.” The new song has been released to iTunes and will be included on the upcoming Stones’ compilation GRRR! Greatest Hits (ABKCO, 11/17) and was recorded in Paris and produced by Don Was. It’s the first time in seven years that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have all been in the studio together.

MTV Jams, which was formerly a 24-hour digital channel, will now be extended to all MTV properties, including MTV, MTV2 and MTV. The new entity also announced it will be the media sponsor for Trey Songz upcoming Chapter V tour featuring Miguel.

SIRIUS XM RADIO RAISES GUIDANCE: Shares of Sirius XM Radio rose 5% yesterday after CEO Mel Karmazin said the company added 446,000 new subscribers in the third quarter and raised guidance to 1.8 million net additions for the full year. Karmazin delivered his update at Liberty Media’s annual investor day. Liberty owns 49.5 percent of Sirius XM and is expected to take control of the company.

MEGAUPLOAD’S KIM DOTCOM PLANNING 2012 SITE REBOOT: In a move bound to provoke U.S. prosecutors and entertainment executives, indicted Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom is planning to launch a replacement of his shuttered website and a new online music service by year’s end. Dotcom says his planned music service Megabox will enable users to download music for free in exchange for accepting some advertisements. U.S. authorities are trying to extradite Dotcom from New Zealand,

BRIAN ENO’S NEW APP REDEFINES THE CONCEPT OF AN ALBUM: Brian Eno has created a new iPad app, Scape, that aims to revolutionize the concept of the ‘album.’ “I’ve got nothing against records — I’ve spent my life making them — but they are a kind of historical blip,” Eno says. He and musician and software designer Peter Chilvers created the app aiming to challenged the concept of what an ‘album’ of music can be while allowing users to create their own music. Which begs the question, did they “hear” Bjork’s last “album”?

LIVE NATION CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ALLEGES MONOPOLISTIC CONTROL OF LIVE TICKETING: Live Nation has been hit with a class action lawsuit in Federal Court alleging the company abuses its control of the ticket industry to extract high fees from fans on event tickets. According to Courthouse News Service, the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit, Brendon Holub, claims Ticketmaster’s practice of charging add-on fees constitutes unfair business practices. Ticketmaster, Holub maintains that Ticketmaster should be using “clear and conspicuous all-in” pricing. Live Nation was not reached for comment.
