Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Receives Official Release Date
Warner Bros. has revealed the official release date for Mortal Kombat 2.
Based on the videogame created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, Mortal Kombat 2 arrives in theaters on October 24, 2025, in IMAX.
What to Expect in Mortal Kombat 2?
Mortal Kombat 2 stars Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Damon Herriman, Tati Gabrielle, Martyn Ford, with Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Plot details remain under wraps.
Simon McQuaid, who directed Mortal Kombat, returns to helm the sequel. Mortal Kombat 2 will be written by Jeremy Slater, best known for creating Moon Knight and co-writing Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Producers include Todd Garner, James Wan, Simon McQuoid, E. Bennett Walsh, and Toby Emmerich.
Mortal Kombat 2 was first announced in 2022. Filming began in June 2023 but was paused shortly after due to the actors’ strike. Filming resumed in mid-November 2023 before wrapping in January 2024.
Mortal Kombat starred Tan as Cole Young, an MMA fighter who “seeks out Earth’s greatest champions in order to stand against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe.”
Mortal Kombat was released day-and-date in theaters and on Max in April 2021. The film grossed over $84 million worldwide.
