Mountain Dew Announces Brief and Very Limited Return of Fan-Favorite Flavor
Mountain Dew
Mountain Dew is reviving one of its highly-requested flavors, but only for an extremely short time!
In honor of the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, Mountain Dew Pitch Black is making a comeback—but only a few will have a chance to get their hands on it, as it is part of a very brief sweepstakes opportunity.
Social media food blog Snackolator shared information about its return, writing, "This will be even quicker than the eclipse itself as @mountaindew is holding a contest to win one of 250 prize packs that include two bottles of Pitch Black and a hoodie," in the caption, in part.
It further continued to explain the details on how to enter: "If you want to win, you need to take a picture of the eclipse at its darkest (let your phone look at the sun - don't look yourself without proper eclipse shades!) and then reply to Mountain Dew on the site formerly known as Twitter with the two hashtags #MtnDewPitchBlack #Sweepstakes."
MTN DEW PITCH BLACK is BACK.
Share a pic showing how dark it is OUTSIDE during today’s eclipse (DON’T look or point your phone at the sun), tag us and use #MtnDewPitchBlack #Sweepstakes to be entered for a chance to win a pair of Mtn Dew Pitch Black Eclipse Edition bottles.

Meanwhile, on X (formerly Twitter), a few social media users showed their delight, like one in particular, who added, "Cool contest! I’m totally excited for today."
On the other hand, so many more simply called for its return to store shelves. "Why not just re-release it in stores???" one inquired, obviously disappointed at the news, as someone else chimed in with "This is the second best mountain dew flavor, only code red beats it!! Where can I find it?????"
Alas, despite fans of the drink being upset that Pitch Black is only returning via contest (for now, anyway), the social media thread still collected some pretty great shots of the solar eclipse—so those who didn't get a chance to snap any of their own can still feel like they took part in the festivities just by scrolling through the thread!
