Mountain Dew Fans Believe There's Drama Behind This Year’s Mystery Flavor
Mountain Dew's 2024 mystery flavor has finally been revealed, but fans are more concerned with the "how" than the "what" in this scenario.
On Oct. 31, the soft drink company officially confirmed the flavor profile of this year's mystery "Voo-Dew" variety with a cryptic post shared on social media.

The sixth annual spooky variety was first teased in September and released alongside several other seasonal offerings and merch. As is tradition, the company let the hype build and fan guesses roll in before formally announcing this year's limited-edition flavor in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday afternoon.
"Hold this tweet to your mirror to reveal this year’s mystery Voo-Dew flavor," the PepsiCo-owned brand joked in the caption of a backward graphic which read: "pink fruit candy" in all capital, bold, white letters on a pink background.
Fans of the bubbly beverage weren't surprised, as those who have already tried the 2024 installment confidently and accurately guessed what the previously unknown offering was aiming for. What did confuse them, though, was the rather generic branding.

According to a trusted food blogger's report and several fans, Mountain Dew had previously teased that this year's limited-edition mystery flavor would be a collab with a popular candy company. While Parade was unable to confirm any such statement, Team Supernova also claimed that the brand "hid a tweet that guessed Strawberry Starbursts," the apparent flavor.
Loyal customers also cited the "lack of hints" when compared to previous releases as one more reason for there being some sort of drama behind this year's rendition, leading many to speculate that the supposed "brand deal" with The Wrigley Company "fell through" sometime in the process of promoting the Voo-Dew series.
Despite the rampant rumors, neither company has addressed the claims–and for what it's worth, the flavor is getting rave reviews, so it's good regardless of the "anticlimactic" release and apparent lore.
Those looking to try the limited-edition soda can find it at most retailers that stock the soft drink brand.
