David Corenswet has found his follow-up project to Superman. Per Deadline, Corenswet is in negotiations to star in Mr. Irrelevant, an upcoming drama from Skydance Sports.

The movie is about the inspiring and tragic story of John Tuggle, a football player nicknamed “Mr. Irrelevant” after being selected by the New York Giants with the last pick in the 1983 NFL Draft. Mr. Irrelevant was created by former NFL wide receiver Paul Salata, who founded an event called “Irrelevant Week” in 1976.

Corenswet is about to become a gigantic star after winning the role of Clark Kent in James Gunn’s Superman. Corenswet will star alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Filming on Superman wrapped in this past summer. Superman will be the first film in Gunn’s new DC Universe under Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Superman soars into theaters on July 11, 2025.

Earlier this year, Corenswet starred as Scott in Twisters and Max in The Greatest Hits. The Man of Steel actor appeared in Lady in the Lake, the Apple TV+ series starring Natalie Portman. Corenswet’s other notable credits include Pearl, We Own This City, Hollywood, and The Politician.

Who is Involved in Mr. Irrelevant Besides David Corenswet?

Jonathan Levine will direct Mr. Irrelevant. Levine is best known for his directorial work on comedies such as Long Shot, Snatched, and The Night Before. Nick Santora, who created Prime Video’s Reacher and Netflix’s FUBAR, will write the script for Mr. Irrelevant.

Skydance Sports will produce alongside Levine and Gill Bohrer for Megamix, and Santora through Blackjack Films.
