'Mr. Robot': Christian Slater shows exclusive clip on 'Tonight Show'

With the clock ticking down to the season 2 premiere of Mr. Robot, Christian Slater stopped by The Tonight Show on Tuesday to share an exclusive clip.

Sort of! Just when it appeared host Jimmy Fallon was going to air the preview, he showed video of 8-year-old Slater on One Life to Live. “I’m sorry, that was the wrong clip,” said Fallon, fully content with having teased Slater.

After the guys chatted about Slater’s love for his hometown of New York City, the conversation soon turned back to season 2 of Mr. Robot. Slater touched on USA Network’s decision to unexpectedly release the premiere episode early on social media and then delete it — moves you’d expect from fsociety and the forces working against it.

“Putting the show out there that way was very exciting, very clever,” said Slater. “I mean, look, I have to take my hat off to everyone at USA… They’ve just been brilliant with how they’ve presented this show. The message that they’ve put out there has been great.”

Then Fallon cut to the clip, showing Slater’s character Mr. Robot venting to Elliot (Rami Malek) his frustration over hiding out and “journaling” while their “revolution needs a leader.”

“You think this is going to get rid of me?” he asks Elliot, who is quickly scribbling notes. “I am not to be gotten rid of.”

Check out the clip below. Mr. Robot season 2 premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on USA.
