MTV Video Music Awards nominates Muni Long for Best R&B

Muni Long, who is from Gifford, is nominated at this year's MTV Video Music Awards for Best R&B for her song "Made for Me."

This is her second time being nominated for the VMAs. In 2022, she was nominated for Best PUSH Performance category but did not win.

'Made for Me'

Long's "Made for Me" was released Sept. 15, 2023, and it has become a hit for the singer. The song has inspired countless TikTok trends, been remixed with Mariah Carey and peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"Made for Me" is the lead single off her upcoming album, Revenge, slated to release Aug. 30.

Who is Muni Long?

Long, whose real name is Priscilla Renea Hamilton, grew up in Gifford. Growing up in Indian River County, Long got her start performing at Riverside Children's Theatre and musical productions at Vero Beach High School, where she graduated in 2006.

Early in her career, the Gifford native released her debut album "Jukebox" in 2009 under real name before taking a backseat and penning hits for artists like Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Madonna before going out and making her music under her new pen name.

Long won her first Grammy in 2023 for Best R&B Performance for her song "Hrs & Hrs."
