‘Naked and Afraid’ Contestant Airlifted to Hospital

On the season premiere of Naked and Afraid, the contestants suffered through some serious hurricane weather. The contestants had all just arrived in Belize, but one team found itself in jeopardy right off the bat.

Lacey proved she could persevere amid any wind or rain, but Jason could barely handle the sunburn he got. Fearful for her partner’s health, Lacey took matters into her own hands and ventured into the jungle. There she discovered “tourist tree,” a natural remedy to ease Jason’s burn. This Mayan remedy seemed like a great idea, but once Lacey applied the bark to Jason’s skin, nothing happened. The next day Jason’s feet appeared to be incredibly swollen, and when he tried to walk around, it was impossible.

Unfortunately for Jason, his sunburn was way more than just a rosy glow, and the doctor said he was at risk for intestinal paralysis. Jason was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was revitalized to health.

Naked and Afraid airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on Discovery.
