Released on July 29, 1998, Meyers’ Parent Trap — which is a remake of the 1961 Hayley Mills movie of the same name — grossed $92 million at the global box office and launched Lohan as one of the brightest young stars of her generation. Two of Lohan’s next projects were also remakes of older Disney movies: 2003’s Freaky Friday (based on the 1976 film starring Jodie Foster) and 2005’s Herbie Fully Loaded (a sequel/reboot of the Herbie franchise, which launched with 1969’s The Love Bug).
