Asics is teaming up with “Naruto: Shippuden” for a super-limited U.S. sneaker release invoking the long-running anime series.

The “Naruto: Shippuden” x Asics Gel-NYC “Final Arc” is inspired by the namesake character’s “Sage Mode” and the series’ “Pain” arc. Designed by the French pop culture host and Hype Notice creative agency founder Sébastien Abdelhamid, the black sneaker with red and orange accents features flame detailing pulled from Naruto’s cape and a lace lock modeled after his scroll. A custom metal lace dubrae hosts the Leaf Village Logo, while you can find Naruto’s Uzumaki mark on the right tongue. A Kyubi scratch appears on the left heel, and the insole takes on a custom graphic with the show’s logo on the right shoe.

As an added surprise, the Gel-NYC’s come in a special box with a host of other accessories that can be attached to the sneakers and have yet to be revealed.

“Naruto” has a great deal of crossover appeal among sneakerheads, and Asics previously collaborated with the franchise in 2022 with two colorways of the Gel-1130 taking after the characters Sasuke and Itachi and a Gel-Lyte III made for Kakashi. Zion Williamson has also collaborated with the anime on his first two signature sneakers from Jordan Brand, as well as the Air Jordan 37, while Crocs has released a number of Classic Clogs modeled after characters on several occasions.

Following a European release way back in December, the “Naruto: Shippuden” x Asics Gel-NYC “Final Arc” will release Saturday, August 31, in the U.S. exclusively through the Los Angeles anime-centric store and label Hypland. Just 200 pairs will be available to purchase, with pricing set at $198.
