Natalie Portman Embraces Strapless Sustainability in Ruched Little Black Dress at Stella McCartney’s Spring 2025 Show During Paris Fashion Week
Natalie Portman put a sustainable spin on the little black dress at Stella McCartney’s spring 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week.
The actress selected a ruched minidress based on a design from McCartney’s fall 2024 collection, pairing it with black tights, patent leather heels and a faux leather handbag. Portman wore her brunette tresses in a side part, while her makeup consisted of brown eye shadow and subtle blush.

The “Lady in the Lake” star currently works with stylist Ryan Hastings, who also counts Anya Taylor-Joy and Ryan Gosling as clients.
Other stars in the front row at McCartney’s latest presentation included Greta Gerwig, Ashley Graham and Maria Sharapova.
Earlier this month, Portman modeled a sheer puff-sleeve Dior gown from the label’s resort 2025 collection at the Deauville American Film Festival. Evoking a knight’s armor, it featured crystalized mesh and a belted embroidered bodice. A jeweled choker and peep-toe platforms completed Portman’s look.
As reported by WWD’s Miles Socha on Monday, McCartney’s spring 2025 line was crafted from 91 percent sustainable materials. Many guests, including Portman, also carried the label’s new vegan Ryder bag, a top-handle design featuring a sloped back.
“The collection flitted confidently between masculine archetypes — strong-shouldered tailoring, often pinstriped, and boyishly baggy jeans — and sexier fare: clinging knit dresses and bandeau tops, or sheer, sensually draped dresses, which seem to be everywhere this European season,” Socha wrote.
Speaking to WWD backstage, McCartney discussed her label’s approach to eco-friendly fashion, which includes leatherworking techniques using materials made from grapes and apples.
“We’re a very strange fashion house, in a sense, because obviously we have sustainability and stopping animal cruelty at the core of everything that we do, and then you have to couple that with the fact that I’m a fashion designer, and I want it to just look effortless and beautiful,” McCartney explained.
