According to a report from Variety, Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, said that the need to find consistency across the network’s 2024-2025 slate also played a role in the decision.

Since the announcement, fans have been campaigning for more seasons of NCIS: Hawai’i. However, as things stand now, the series remains canceled. Before the final episode aired on May 6, series co-creator Christopher Silber took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reflect on the show’s abrupt ending.

“Friends. Tonight is the series finale of #NCISHawaii,” he posted. “It’s premature. There are a lot of feelings. But mostly it’s pride for what we did together. Love for everyone involved. And my deepest gratitude to the greatest fan base who ever loved a TV show. Mahalo!!”
