Nelly will headline KU’s Late Night in the Phog
LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Kansas Athletics is revealing that rap superstar Nelly will be the headliner for the 40th Annual Late Night in the Phog in Lawrence this fall.
Kansas Athletics made the news official online Thursday, July 18. Nelly will be at Allen Fieldhouse on Friday, Oct. 18 with tickets being made available, along with more information on Phogfest, at a later date.
Nelly made his debut into the entertainment world in 2000 with his distinct vocals and big personality, according to Kansas Athletics. Claiming the titles of philanthropist, actor and entrepreneur, Nelly makes an effort to blend musical genres such as in “Over and Over” which takes elements from hip hop and country.

KU’s Late Night in the Phog is a long-standing tradition to kick off the college basketball season. Attracting locals and university students, the event continues to be a popular tradition at Allen Fieldhouse and regularly brings in big name artists to help get KU fans pumped up, according to Kansas Athletics. Last year’s headliner for Late Night in the Phog was the rapper and singer Flo Rida.
