Netflix Cancels Cobra Kai Creators’ Action-Comedy Obliterated After 1 Season

Obliterated‘s title has proven all too accurate: Netflix has cancelled the action-comedy series after one season. Its freshman finale, which dropped on Nov. 30 with the rest of the Season 1 episodes, now serves as its series finale.

Hailing from Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg (along with Cobra Kai producer Dina Hillier), Obliterated followed an elite special forces team who thwarted a deadly threat to Las Vegas… only to discover, after their debauchery-filled celebratory party, that the bomb they deactivated was a fake. Now intoxicated, the team was forced to fight through their impairments, overcome their personal issues, find the real bomb and save the world.

Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf) and Nick Zano (Legends of Tomorrow) led the cast, along with C. Thomas Howell, Kimi Rutledge, Paola Lázaro, Terrence Terrell, Alyson Gorske and Eugene Kim.

When asked about the potential for a second season, Hurwitz, Heald and Schlossberg told TVLine that although “nothing’s promised,” they were “hopeful that the world reacts to the show like we hope they do.”

“We fall in love with our characters and everything we write, and the movies that we wrote throughout our careers have had sequels,” the EPs said at the time. “As long as there are bad guys in the world, then there’s the potential for our team to come together and party and hopefully save the day elsewhere.”
