France’s Newen Studios and free-to-air broadcaster TF1 Group have signed a deal with Netflix that will see the partners co-produce the streamer’s first-ever daily drama series for France.

The series, Tout Pour La Lumière (All for Light), a family series set in the world of music and dance, will shoot next year and become available on Netflix five days prior to its free-to-air broadcast on TF1 and VOD player TF1+.

Newen will produce the series as well as co-finance. Co-written by Coline Assous, Yentl Coubes, and Maxime Cormier, Tout Pour La Lumière will be produced by Céline Fran?ois, and overseen by Stéphanie Brémond, Deputy General Director of continuing drama and long-form series at Newen Studios. Filming will take place on location in the Mediterranian town of La Ciotat with studio sets in La Belle de Mai in Marseille.

“The launch of such an ambitious new daily series is an exciting project for Newen. We are delighted to bring our expertise in continuing drama to this unique partnership with TF1 and Netflix, aiming to reach and retain a new audience,” Newen Studios CEO Pierre Branco said in a statement.

Ara Aprikian from TF1 Group said the project demonstrated “once again our ability to find new ways to finance and distribute our projects to give them the widest possible audience. With this new daily drama event series, TF1 is enriching its content offering in linear and non-linear formats and reasserts its role as a historical partner in content creation.”

The new project, said Pauline Dauvin of Netflix France, “illustrates our shared commitment to innovate for the enjoyment of viewers and to support artistic creation.”
