Netflix Unveils Teaser Trailer, Premiere Date for Timo Tjahjanto’s Action Film ‘The Shadow Strays’
Netflix has released the first teaser trailer and premiere date for Timo Tjahjanto’s hotly anticipated action film The Shadow Strays.
The Indonesian film tells the story of Codename 13, a young assassin who finds herself suspended after a mission gone wrong. The logline reads, “During her downtime, [13] bonds with Monji, a boy who recently lost his mother to a crime syndicate. When Monji disappears, 13 embarks on a quest to find him, even if it means going against her mentor and the organization she belongs to, “The Shadows.”

The Shadow Strays will hit the streamer on Oct .17, but first screen at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness sidebar this September.
The cast includes Aurora Ribero, Hana Malasan, Ali Fikry, Adipati Dolken and Andri Mashadi.
Already a huge name in Asian cinema, for his own work and for being one half of The Mo Brothers with friend and fellow Indonesian filmmaker Kimo Stamboel, Tjahjanto is set for international notoriety after signing on to direct Nobody 2, Universal’s followup to its hugely successful Bob Odenkirk-led action movie. The filmmaker’s other credits include the Netflix features The Big 4 (2022), May the Devil Take You (2018) and The Night Comes for Us (2018) as well as the Shudder release May the Devil Take You Too (2020).
As part of the Mo Brothers, Tjahjanto directed the 2014 neo-noir Killers and the 2016 action film Headshot, that also screened at TIFF.
