New ‘MacGyver’ Goes Totally ’80s With Re-Creation of Original Main Titles
Now, this isn’t how the new CBS series will begin on Sept. 23, but maybe it should! In these trying times, we could all use about 50 percent more mullet, so the editing wizards over at the new MacGyver mocked up a fake opening-titles sequence that is nearly a shot-for-shot remake of that of the 1980s classic.
Because we Yahoos share our motto with Richard Dean Anderson’s version of “Mac” — “If I had some duct tape, I could fix that” — we spent the morning pasting together this side-by-side mashup of the original and the new fake titles.

The pocket-knife flick, the moving-boat jump, and the freeze-frame introduction all line up so nicely, we are genuinely pumped to see how Lucas Till will inject new life into the beloved character. Our guess is that his approach will involve a paper clip, a shoelace, or a roll of duct tape in some capacity.
Check out our mashup! And in the immortal words of MacGyver, “Brace yourself. This could be fun.”
MacGyver premieres Friday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
