New trailer for 'Toy Story 4' features a Woody and Bo Peep reunion — and fans are already emotional
A runaway spork is at the center of the Toy Story 4 storyline — and so is Woody’s (Tom Hanks) love life.
The first full-length trailer for the highly anticipated animated film was released Tuesday and the action picked up with good ole Woody and the gang living with Bonnie, who Andy gifted his toys to when he left for college. But just as the teaser copy on the trailer read — “On the road of life there are old friends, new friends, and stories that change you” — the crew is getting some new blood, with one of them being “Forky” (Tony Hale), a craft project made by the girl with plasticware, pipe cleaners, googly eyes and not nearly enough adhesive.

Despite Forky barely staying together, it quickly becomes Bonnie’s favorite toy. So the ever loyal Woody tells the gang, “We all have to make sure nothing happens to him.” Only Forky doesn’t want to be around for the long haul with Buzz (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and the others. “I am not a toy! I was made for soup, salad — maybe chili. And then the trash!” the spork says before jumping out of Bonnie’s family’s RV while they’re road tripping.
That’s when the adventure really begins. Woody jumps after it and the unusual pair try to figure out what’s next. They end up at an antique shop and Woody sees Bo Peep (Annie Potts), the cowboy’s love interest who only appeared as a flashback in the last film. She encourages him to be more than a kid’s toy — and is convincing enough to make Woody consider it.
Set to the Beach Boys song “God Only Knows,” Woody continues his mission to find Bonnie and return to her with Forky in tow — but he is conflicted. “I was made to help a child,” he said. “I don’t remember it ever being this hard.”
While it was just a trailer, fans on Twitter were beside themselves after seeing the gang back together. Pretty much every crying GIF ever created is circulating in response.

As noted when the teaser trailer came out, the script for the film has changed a lot since the film was announced in 2014. At the time, John Lasseter was the director and described it as “a love story between Woody and Bo Peep,” inspired by his own marriage. He left Pixar in June after accusations of sexual misconduct. Potts said Pixar “threw out three-quarters” of the existing script, but — as the new trailer shows — fans still get to see that Woody and Bo Peep reunion.
