NFL bans players from wearing Beats headphones onscreen

NFL players will have to say goodbye to their Beats headphones: The league has banned players from sporting the brand when they’re on camera due to a new partnership with audio company Bose.

The NFL and Bose cemented the deal in August, and coaches now wear headsets stamped with the Bose logo during games. As for players, they can’t wear Beats headphones any time a camera might be near—meaning even in the off-season, players have to remain Beats-free in case of spontaneous on-camera interviews.

Though Beats headphones won’t be getting much exposure from the football world anymore, they’re still a step ahead: Apple acquired Beats in May, and the headphones currently take up 61 percent of the market share of premium headphones. Bose only has 22 percent.
