Nicholas Alexander Chavez Releases Message Confirming His GH Exit
Nicholas Alexander Chavez has been silent about his status with General Hospital since his character, Spencer Cassadine, was presumed dead at the end of January. Soap Hub reported that his name fell off the show’s closing credits back in March. Now, the actor is letting his fans know what’s going on and whether or not we’ll see him back in Port Charles in the near or distant future.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez Out at GH
On his X, formerly Twitter, and his Instagram stories, Chavez released a statement in which he expressed his appreciation and gratitude for his time as GH’s Spencer Cassadine, the role that won him the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Performer in Drama Series in 2022.
He also singled out the Sprina fans, his fan base that supported the Spencer and Trina (Tabyana Ali) relationship. At the time of Spencer’s “death,” the popular couple was in love and in Paris, with their whole world before them. That is until tragedy struck.
“I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that GH gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors and fellow actors,” Chavez wrote in his post.
“Frank Valentini [executive producer, GH] is a mentor and a friend, and we’ve had some pretty extensive conversations about my future on the show. While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles,” Chavez adds. “Beyond the people I’ve already mentioned, I want to take some time to thank and honor the GH fan base… especially the Sprina fans… who must be THE most loyal and kind fan base in the universe of entertainment. Words fail to show the depth of my gratitude, thank you, I love you all very, very much.”

Chavez took a break from GH to film his role as one of the Menendez brothers on Ryan Murphy’s anthology series Monster. In the second season of the Netflix drama, Chavez plays Lyle Menendez — in real life, Lyle and his brother Erik were convicted of murdering their parents.
The actor was last seen on GH on January 31, when Spencer presumably died under tragic circumstances. While Chavez says that there are no current plans for him to reprise Spencer, the fact that he and Valentini are having conversations leaves a door open for his potential return.
“When we hired Nicholas four years ago, I knew he had something special,” Valentini said on Soap Opera Digest’s website. “Not only is he a very talented actor, but he is also a good person and dear friend. While we are very sad to see him go, we are very proud of him and look forward to watching his next act. We wish him all the best.”
Soap Hub would like to wish Chavez the best as he navigates his post-daytime career.
