Nick Jonas's Best Dad Moments So Far!
Nick Jonas’ daughter may only be 2, but in that short time, Jonas has already nailed the art of being an incredible dad. The singer welcomed little Malti Marie with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas via surrogate in 2022. Prior to announcing her daughter’s arrival, Chopra told Vanity Fair that kids are “a big part of our desire for the future.” She also joked that she and Jonas were “not too busy to practice” conceiving. (*Wink, wink*)
And while Chopra and Jonas initially kept Malti’s life extremely private, the A-listers have started to share more about their life as a family of three.
Baby Malti’s first family photo was posted on Instagram on Chopra’s first Mother’s Day, with the little girl in a tiny pink dress with matching velvet bow. Her face was covered with a heart emoji and she cuddled up against her mama and held her daddy’s hand in a heartwarming moment.
And on his first Father’s Day, Jonas shared a beyond-adorable photo of him and his infant. The picture, taken from behind, shows that they’re both wearing personalized white sneakers. His daughter’s new kicks (that look to be too big for her teeny baby feet!) has an “M” on the back of each. As for Jonas? He has “MM’S” written on the left shoe and “DAD.” (As in, Malti Marie’s dad.) Is your heart mealthing?!
And it’s only gotten sweeter from there! Jonas seems to be soaking up every minute of Girl Dad Life, and it’s so special to see.
On his birthday today (HBD, NJ!), let’s look back on a list of Nick Jonas’s best dad moments so far.

When he leaned into Girl Dad Life
At some point, all Girl Dads must learn and accept that they are going to get a makeover (or a Unicorn Poo Facial!) from their daughter. Jonas has given into that fact of life and let Malti “cut” his hair with kiddie scissors in Aug. 2024. “Thank you,” he said as she haphazardly dragged them along the back of his already-shaved head.
When he proved he’s a mealtime pro
For Father’s Day 2024, Chopra posted a hilarious photo of Jonas that shows him and Malti on a tour bus. They’re sitting in seats across the aisle from each other, and he has his left arm out, propped up on her car seat, feeding her a bottle. He’s so in the groove of fatherhood that he doesn’t even have to look her way to know everything is a-okay.
The way he makes Malti smile.
As much as Malti has Nick wrapped around her finger, it’s also clear she’s a total Daddy’s Girl. The “Waffle House” singer posted a clip where Malti turns around, surprised to see dad, and her entire face lights up in the most heartwarming way.
When he celebrated Malti’s welcome home from the NICU.
The couple celebrated their first Mother’s Day with a sweet post about finally bringing Malti home from the NICU.
“On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced,” the couple wrote on Instagram. “After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is.”
They also thanked the doctors, nurses, and specialists at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai Los Angeles, adding, “Our next chapter begins now, and our baby is truly a badass. Let’s get it MM! Mommy and Daddy love you.”
Chopra gave a special shoutout to Jonas as well, writing, “Also.. there is no one I’d rather do this with than you. Thank you for making me a mama @nickjonas I love you ??.”
For his part, Jonas wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers and care takers out there, but I want to take a minute to say a special Mother’s Day wish to my incredible wife @priyankachopra on her first Mother’s Day,” he said. “Babe, you inspire me in every way, and you are taking to this new role with such ease and steadiness. I am so grateful to be on this journey with you. You are already an incredible mother. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you.”
When he said being a dad was ‘magical.’
On The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jonas talked about how “magical” it is to be a mom.
“You’re a daddy now,” Kelly Clarkson said, to the cheers of the audience.
“It’s pretty wild,” he responded, looking at the Mother’s Day picture of the three of them.
“She’s got a little heart face,” he joked, adding, “She’s the best. It’s just been a magical season of our life, and you know, also pretty wild. But it’s a blessing to have her home. It’s been wonderful.”
When he wore matching Daddy-and-me shoes with Malti.
The father-daughter duo wore the most adorable matching white Vans, which were a gift from Chopra to celebrate Father’s Day. The baby’s has an “M” on the heel of each shoe, and Jonas’s says, “MM’s Dad.”
“First Father’s Day with my little girl,” Jonas captioned the post. “Thank you @priyankachopra for the incredible Father Daughter sneakers and for making me a daddy I love you so much.”
When he revealed he’s teaching Malti about her culture.
Jonas and Chopra are excited to teach Malti all about the unique cultures of her parents. “It’s really important to us that our daughter has an upbringing that is representative of our family and the things we love about [my wife’s] Indian culture and my American culture,” Jonas told PEOPLE in June 2022.
When he celebrated Malti’s half-birthday.
Chopra turned 40 in July 2022, and her elaborate celebration included a special recognition for Baby Malti as well: her half-birthday! Jonas and Chopra honored the little girl’s special day by dressing her in a cute “6 months” onesie with a pink frilly skirt (and tiny anklet!). Chopra holds her daughter while Jonas stands next to them holding a tiny white cake covered in strawberries and a notecard that reads, “Happy 6 months b-day MM.” Our hearts are melting!
When he opened up about the Uvalde school shooting.
The horrific Uvalde school shooting, which left 19 children and 2 adults dead in the deadliest shooting at a grade school since Sandy Hook Elementary, impacted Jonas even harder now that he has a daughter.
“The weight of everything is much more intense,” he told Variety in May 2022. “I think it’s now about trying to be as present as possible and as thoughtful as you can be for your family, but also for other people’s journeys. I’m so grateful for [Malti Marie] and the wonderful perspective of being a parent.”
He added, “As a father, as an uncle, I can’t not think about the kids and all the lives that were lost. I’m hoping for change to happen and we’ll see the end of this.”
Jonas also tweeted a link to Moms Demand Action on Twitter, writing, “Kids shouldn’t have to worry about gun violence. They especially shouldn’t have to worry about gun violence at school. Absolutely heartbreaking. I am sending my thoughts and prayers to everyone who lost a loved one in this horrific tragedy and all of the far too frequent tragedies in the recent weeks, months, and years. But that being said, we all know that thoughts and prayers are not enough.”
When he talked about how ‘life-changing’ fatherhood is.
Being a dad comes with many changes, which Jonas now knows all too well.
“It is certainly life changing,” Jonas told Entertainment Tonight. “[Malti] is amazing. It brings me a lot of joy.”
When he went on a romantic getaway with Chopra.
All parents need time to rest and recharge, and Jonas and Chopra did this on vacation together. The new parents went on a romantic getaway in June 2022 to Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos, where they were glowing hanging out on the beach and showing major PDA.
When he joked about everyone giving him baby advice.
Jonas isn’t immune to parenting advice, and he joked about it on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in May.
“Our little girl’s home. She’s just amazing. What a gift a baby is,” the “Jealous” singer told Jimmy Fallon, who responded, “It really is. Is everyone giving you advice, giving you books?”
“Turns out everybody I know is a newborn care specialist,” Jonas joked. “All these PhDs I didn’t know they had.”
He also revealed that he gave his wife an unusual first Mother’s Day gift: a citrus tree. The significance being, “Just new life, new things growing — and the beauty of citrus trees.” How cute is that?
When he talked about valuing his relationship with his brothers.
The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star is a busy dad, but he’s focused on prioritizing his relationship with his brothers, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas. The three are all girl dads, with Joe sharing Willa and Delphine with estranged wife Sophie Turner, and Kevin sharing Alena and Valentina with wife Danielle Jonas.
In a June 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Nick said, “We all have families and live in different places. We’re in a better spot now than we’ve ever been, and it’s a really fun season of discovering what the next chapter is going to look like.”
Joe said, “We made an effort today to drive out just us and have breakfast and lunch just to connect. This time in our life and career, we all work quite hard to get that time at home more often, but we also prioritize time with just the three of us because we want to have a strong bond as well.”
Kevin added, “Even from afar and through the pandemic, we pretty much always really tried to connect every day. We catch each other up on what’s going on at home and family stuff, but sometimes it’s just to talk about the most random thing.”
Nick credits the amazing time the brothers are having with their supportive wives.
“It made us all better people, I think, finding brilliant partners in life. [They] helped us all to be better versions of ourselves, because I think that’s what they require of us,” Nick said. “It’s a beautiful thing to have been able to go on this journey over these last couple of years and mark them with the happiness that we’ve all felt at home. We’re having the time of our lives.”
