Nicki Minaj Responds To Stephen A. Smith Rant: “Sit Down Ugly”
Nicki Minaj and Stephen A. Smith’s digital dispute continues, as the rapper fired off against the sports broadcaster on social media. Their online back-and-forth began earlier this week after Smith responded to Minaj’s comments allegedly speaking negatively on Jay-Z after it was announced Kendrick Lamar would be headlining the Super Bowl LIX halftime show over Lil Wayne.
Sharing a clip from The Stephen A. Smith podcast where he ranted against her rant, the “Barbie Dreams” rhymer added her response on X on Thursday (Sept. 12). The initial post questioned whether Smith had ill intentions in coming for Nicki Minaj, as he did not address any men who spoke out against the Compton rapper performing at the NFL event.
“Oh look yall another paid laughy taffy alien who only comes off his knees to turn around & back dat azz up,” she posted. “LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Stephen, we don’t care. Ima tell u right now. We don’t care. If I say more it’ll be your fault. Sit down ugly.”
In another post, she seemingly confused Stephen A. Smith with Shannon Sharpe, taking jabs at his haircut and referencing moaning on Instagram Live. Sharpe claims to have accidentally clicked the feature when engaged in sexual activity, allowing thousands to listen in on the explicit act.
“Oh that’s not,” she followed up, but left both posts on her profile.
Nicki Minaj’s original rant voiced “Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!!,” seemingly referring to the Roc Nation boss, as Jay-Z and the enterprise have worked alongside the NFL in producing the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019. She later added that both Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne deserve respect.
After reading her entire rant, Smith used his podcast to exclaim “Who else you gon’ get in a beef with?” defending Jay-Z as “front and center in pushing the envelope.”
On Friday, Lil Wayne detailed his true feelings about being skipped for the opportunity after not only Minaj, but Cam’ron, Juvenile, and more came to his defense.
“First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking,” he revealed. “I’ma say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, all love and support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back.”
The New Orleans native continued, “It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot,” adding, “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. And for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that. But I thought that was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot.”
