Nicole Kidman Heightens the Drama in Balenciaga Dress With a Plunging Back at Academy Museum Gala 2024

Nicole Kidman was among the bevy of A-list stars and celebrities who attended the 2024 Academy Museum Gala on Saturday in Los Angeles. The Oscar-winning actress joined the likes of Pamela Anderson, Ariana Grande and more at the red carpet event.

For the special occasion, Kidman opted for an elegant monochrome look with a hint of sensuality from Balenciaga. Kidman wore a sleeveless black gown with a straight-across neckline, cinched waist and subtly flared skirt with a short train for Saturday’s event.

While the dress appeared simple, the back revealed a sultry detail. The back of Kidman’s dress featuring a plunging line, which included a bow-like element at the back of the waist. Kidman paired the Balenciaga dress with coordinated opera gloves.

When it came to her accessories, the “Babygirl” star opted for a simple, elegant watch and glittering statement earrings by Messika. Her golden-blond tresses were pulled back into a low ponytail with a few wisps of hair to frame her face. Kidman’s makeup featured bold eyes and a pop of color with a berry lip.

Kidman joined Balenciaga as a brand ambassador for the Spanish luxury fashion house in December 2023. “Balenciaga has been with me through some of the most memorable events in my life, from my wedding to the Oscars red carpet,” Kidman said of joining the fashion house in a statement. “I’m excited to work with Balenciaga as an ambassador and look forward to creating more memories together.”

Since then, Kidman has attended several events for Balenciaga, including the fashion house’s recent spring 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week last September.

The Academy Museum Gala is an annual fundraising event held in Los Angeles, Calif., by members of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The gala raises funds to support the museum’s dedicated cinema exhibits, along with education programs and public programming, among other endeavors.
