A sequel to the 1998 film Practical Magic has been summoned. Warner Bros. Pictures announced on June 10 that Practical Magic 2 is in development. The original movie, based on Alice Hoffman's novel of the same name, starred Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the witchy Owens sisters. Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first film, is returning to write the screenplay for the new movie.
Two decades after Practical Magic was released, Kidman told her former co-star at the 2018 Academy Awards, "We’re really good sisters in that." Bullock concurred saying, "I think we are."

Parade has learned that deals are in process for Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, who played two witch sisters named Sally and Gillian Owens in the original film, to return for Practical Magic 2. They are also expected to produce alongside Denise Di Novi.
Back in 1998, Bullock said on the TODAY show that she "had such a great time" working with Kidman on the movie. At the time, she also pointed out, "And the fact is, is that we don’t have anything in common, except for at the dinner table with a bottle of wine and everything sort of blends together."
