Nicole Scherzinger Criticized for Apparent Allegiance With Trump-Backing Russell Brand
Tensions are still running high in the wake of Donald Trump’s win in the presidential election. If there was ever a worse time to alarm your audience over perceived support of the reality star-turned-president, now would be one of them. Nicole Scherzinger is facing the consequences of this as she receives backlash for seemingly aligning herself with known Trump supporter Russell Brand, who is also facing allegations of rape and sexual assault.
Earlier this week, Scherzinger commented beneath an Instagram post in which Brand posted with a MAGA-style red hat that read “Make Jesus First Again” while celebrating Trump. “Where do I get this hat!!!?” the singer and actress wrote. She has since deleted the comment.

Scherzinger is currently starring in the Broadway revival of Sunset Blvd. and has received rave reviews for her performance. But many fans in the Broadway community are questioning their continued support, given how closely theater is linked with the LGBTQ+ community that Trump and the conservatives backing him have directly targeted. The show’s comment section has been restricted.
Comments on Scherzinger’s personal account are still open. “You don’t get to come into our community and spread your nonsense,” one user wrote. The comments beneath her pre-election post, where she shared a video captioned “on my way to make the right decision today,” are far worse. Even the ones dated prior to her Brand comment question why her comment section is filled with hundreds of Trump supporters.
The backlash continued on X (formerly Twitter). “Nicole Scherzinger really thought it was a great idea to come out as a Trump supporter? When she’s literally on the verge of a Tony nomination,” one user wrote. “Broadway is run by gay and trans people. After a flop attempt of a solo career, she finally found her niche and ruins it.”
