‘The Night Agent’ gets early Season 3 renewal at Netflix
The good news for fans of “The Night Agent,” Netflix’s conspiracy thriller that’s one of its most popular series of all time, is that it’s snagged an early Season 3 renewal months ahead of its Season 2 premiere, Netflix announced Tuesday, along with some first look photos of Season 3. The bad news is that the premiere has been pushed to 2025. On balance, more positive than negative, we’d say.
Season 2 was originally slated to premiere in 2024, but has been pushed to winter 2025. This will mean Season 2 premieres close to two years after Season 1 premiered in March 2023. But the gap between Seasons 2 and 3 is likely to be smaller, as work on Season 3 is already underway. Filming on the 10-episode third season is scheduled to start later this year in Istanbul and move to its home base in New York in 2025.

“The Night Agent” is based on a novel by Matthew Quirk. Season 2 is described as “a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low level FBI Agent, Peter Sutherland, whose efforts to save the President in Season 1 earn him an opportunity to become a Night Agent in Season 2. But working in the secretive organization of Night Action will propel Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply. “
The Season 2 cast is led by returning stars Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland and Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin. New cast members include Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Teddy Sears, Navid Negahban, and Brittany Snow. The show is created by Emmy nominee Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”), who serves as showrunner and executive producer.
“The Night Agent” Season 1 was Netflix’s most-viewed series of 2023, with 98.2 million views in its first 90 days of release. It currently sits at #7 on Netflix’s list of its most popular English-language shows of all time.
