The Nike Sabrina 2 Oregon Ducks PE Sneaker Is a Must for Ionescu Fans
More from Footwear News
With the WNBA playoffs set to begin this weekend, one of the most anticipated colorways for Sabrina Ionescu’s second signature sneaker has been confirmed for a release.
The Nike Sabrina 2 “Oregon Ducks” will drop this fall with a bold green and yellow colorway for the New York Liberty star’s alma matter. None of the university’s logos appear anywhere on the sneaker, but the intent is still unmistakable as a tonal green upper, which allows the various textures to stand out, is paired with a yellow Swoosh and “i” logo. Sabrina’s “S” logo appears in metallic gold on the tongue, while the midsole is split with white and green.
A similar logo-less treatment was used for the Oregon Ducks colorway of the Sabrina 1 that released earlier this year. Ionescu the second iteration earlier this month in a Liberty game against the Dallas Wings.
Oregon Ducks colorways are common for Nike sneakers, especially those made for basketball, because of the company’s deep relationship with the school. Phil Knight ran track for Oregon with fellow Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman as his coach, and the “O” logo designed by Nike in 1998 has been used campus-wide since since 2022.
Often, Nike’s Ducks sneakers are made as player-exclusives for the school’s basketball teams and the NBA player’s whose models are involved — with recent examples including the Kobe 8 Protro and LeBron 21.
Ionescu is without a doubt Oregon’s greatest basketball player of all-time, male or female, as she won the Wooden Award in her junior and senior year and won all of the national Player of the Year honors in here final year. Her 26 career triple-doubles are an NCAA record, and she was the first player in the NCAA men’s or women’s game to hit 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists in a career.
The Nike Sabrina 2 “Oregon Ducks” will release this fall through the Nike website. Pricing is set at $130.
