Nikki Glaser to Host 2025 Golden Globes, Is Rooting for Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Nomination

Actress/comedian Nikki Glaser has been tapped to host the 82nd annual Golden Globes telecast, which will air on CBS Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025 at 8/7c.

The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand/next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers).

Glaser’s hiring for the plum gig comes just months after she arguably stole the show at Netflix’s live Tom Brady roast special.

Golden Globes hosts in recent years have included Jo Koy (who did himself no favors by shaming writers for bad jokes), Jerrod Carmichael, nobody (when NBC took a knee on airing the show amid Hollywood Foreign Press controversies), Tina & Amy (Fey and Poehler), and Ricky Gervais (who served as emcee for a third non-consecutive time in 2020).

“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage),” Glaser, who clearly loves a parenthetical aside, wrote in a statement. “The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows, but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God I hope so). It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).

“Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina, Amy, or Ricky have said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear,” Glaser added. “I just hope to continue in that time honored tradition (that might also get me cancelled). This is truly a dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty for every TV show and movie I’ve binged over the past year. It was all worth it. (Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Season 4 will be nominated, right?).”

This year’s three-hour Golden Globes ceremony — benefitting from an NFL doubleheader lead-in — drew 9.4 million viewers in January, up 50% increase from 2023 to mark the award show’s largest audience in four years.
