Nikolaj Coster-Waldau confirms 'Game of Thrones' has a sad ending
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a.k.a. Game of Thrones’ Jaime Lannister, visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night to talk about the show’s highly anticipated series finale. When Kimmel asked him his thoughts on the finale, Coster-Waldau explained that he wrote the show’s creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and told them, “I don’t know how you did it, but I can’t imagine a better way of ending the show.”
While Coster-Waldau wouldn’t share too many details about the show’s ending, he did admit that the ending is “sad-isfying.” Kimmel attempted to get him to crack by testing some fan theories on him, such as the theory that “Jaime Lannister will kill his sister Cersei.” Unfortunately, Coster-Waldau didn’t give anything up, responding, “That’s a theory. It makes sense though if you think about it. In a lot of ways, yeah.”
The internet has been exploding with fan theories about the series finale, and Coster-Waldau explained that some fans aren’t too far off.

My husband is spouting off #GameofThrones final season theories and tonight he said that The Hound would die saving Sansa and his last words will be “go on, little bird” and I got so upset by that I pushed him off the bed.

Later, he admitted to Kimmel that sometimes he has seen fan theories that are correct but he’s never seen any “who got the whole thing.”
Coster-Waldau’s co-stars have been similarly tight-lipped about the show’s ending, though Kit Harington confirmed to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show that Game of Thrones ends on a sad note, explaining he “blubbed his eyes out.”
Even though Coster-Waldau wouldn’t reveal how the show ends, he did admit that he’ll miss it when it’s gone.
“You know that thing, you read a really good book. You get to the last 10 pages and you’re like, ‘I’m going to wait ’til tomorrow,’” he said. “Because you know the minute you finish it just sucks.”
