Nina Dobrev Gives the Bold Shoulder in Structured Carolina Herrera Little Black Dress for Broadway Premiere of ‘Our Town’
Nina Dobrev put a structured spin on the little black dress for the opening night of “Our Town” on Broadway Thursday evening.
The “Vampire Diaries” star walked the red carpet of the Broadway premiere in a little black dress with large, structural shoulders from Carolina Herrera’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear-collection. The structured minidress features a wrap-style bodice with a V-neckline and decadently ruffled shoulders, creating a “bow” silhouette. Her long-sleeve black silk dress has a skirt that hits midthigh and fits snugly, allowing the shoulders to take center stage.

Dobrev completed the monochromatic look with sheer black tights, pointed pumps and a matching clutch. She attended the show with her boyfriend, Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, who also chose a monochromatic black style, wearing a suit with his shirt slightly unbuttoned.
The Carolina Herrera fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection emphasized moments that were “quite disciplined and controlled,” according to Wes Gordon, who has been the creative director of the eponymous fashion label since 2018. Booth Moore, in her review of the show for WWD, noted, “The collection was indeed quite structured in a 1930s-meets-1980s way. The words ‘chic severity’ came to mind looking at the winged sleeves and strict pencil skirts on little black dresses, and stiff conical skirts on ballgowns.”
This isn’t the first time Dobrev has chosen a structured ensemble from the New York City-based design house. For the Carolina Herrera spring 2025 show during New York Fashion Week, the actress wore a two-piece black-and-white set featuring a cropped jacket and miniskirt in wool tweed with white beaded flowers along the neckline and hem. The cropped jacket included playful puff sleeves.
The 2024 Broadway revival of “Our Town” stars Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch and Katie Holmes. Set in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, the play explores small-town life, focusing on the Gibbs and Webb families through themes of friendship and marriage.
