No need to go to a kingdom by the sea. An Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy in coming to Des Moines.

Ever dreamed of having your own conversation with "The Raven"? You can travel back in time to experience the gothic horrors of the early 1800s with a cocktail in your hand while attending the Edgar Allan Speakeasy event in Des Moines.

The three-day event allows you to hear Poe's work reimagined and told by Poe historians. It will offer four Edgar Allan Poe-themed cocktails to sip on while listening to four of his stories.

When is the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy in Des Moines, Iowa?

During July 11, 12 and 13 those 21 and older can partake in the Edgar Allan Poe exclusive speakeasy. You must have a valid ID at the venue. You can pick what time to start the speakeasy and the total experience lasts roughly an hour and 30 minutes.

On July 11 and 12, sessions start at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. On July 13, you can book your cocktail hour as early as noon, with openings running until 10 p.m.

Where is the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy in Des Moines?

This speakeasy isn't too hidden from the general public. The Edgar Allan Poe speakeasy will be at the Grand Hall at Temple Theater, 1011 Locust St., Des Moines.
