Noises Off first look: Andrea Martin, Megan Hilty, and more slam doors on Broadway

The sound of doors opening, closing, opening, closing, opening, and closing (and opening again) will echo all across New York next season when Noises Off returns to Broadway.

The classic farce joins Roundabout Theatre Company’s packed 50th anniversary season, premiering in January with an undeniably all-star cast of Tony winners, TV stars, and all sorts of stage favorites in between. Entertainment Weekly has a spiffy, exclusive first look at that starry ensemble.

There’s Daniel Davis from The Nanny, who will play boozy stage vet Selsdon Mowbray in Noises Off’s play-within-a-play; Jeremy Shamos plays fearful, moronic Freddy Fellowes; David Furr is stuttering leading man Garry Lejeune; comedy icon Andrea Martin stars as forgetful, fading stage doyenne Dotty Otley; Rob McClure as stage manager Tim Allgood; Campbell Scott as put-upon director Lloyd Dallas; Smash’s Megan Hilty as ingénue Brooke Ashton; Tracee Chimo as assistant stage manager Poppy Norton-Taylor; and Kate Jennings Grant as optimistic actress Belinda Blair.

Michael Frayn’s 1982 play, last seen on Broadway in 2001 (with Patti LuPone, Peter Gallagher, and T.R. Knight), will begin previews on Dec. 17 and open Jan. 14 at the American Airlines Theatre. Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the limited engagement will run through March 6.
