North West Showed Us She’s a Star in Her Own Right — Here's How
North West turns 11 today and to celebrate the big occasion, we’re breaking down all the ways that this next-generation Kardashian is a star. Let’s run down just a few of those examples quickly. Rapper? Check. Singer? Check. Visual artist? Check!
And we’re not the only ones in awe. During an interview on the Honestly podcast with Bari Weiss, Kardashian admitted that her daughter has a certain something that keeps her on her toes. “Who intimidates me? I was going to say politicians, but they don’t. Maybe just my daughter, North,” she said.
The reality star went on to explain that North takes after her dad Kanye in a big way. “North West is Kanye West’s daughter,” she said, adding, “Forget that, she’s his twin.” West is also all aboard the North fan club train, whether he’s being a proud, beaming dad while she performed at Paris Fashion Week, or sharing photos of his daughter’s artistic achievements.

Rapper in the making
North West made her rap debut at Kanye West’s Paris Fashion Week show in 2020 and we got to see her impressive musical chops firsthand. She performed a remix of “What I Do?” by ZaZa and you’re going to need to see both her performance AND her dad’s proud reaction.
Watching North in action made Kim Kardashian emotional. “I see her at Sunday Service, but to do something on her own, in front of all these people for the first time, she’s never even been up on a stage and practiced,” she said during an episode of The Kardashians. “So to see her up there, my nerves are just, like, I honestly start crying because I’m, just, I’m happy for her, but I’m so nervous for her.”
A burgeoning environmentalist
We’re extremely here for anyone who’s making environmentally-friendly decisions. And it sounds like North is already very responsible.
In 2019, Kardashian shared a video of her daughter collecting trash and bottles to help clean up waste. “She loves the planet so much and everywhere she goes she picks up trash,” Kardashian wrote alongside the video.
Yes to young environmentalists doing their part!
A truly impressive eye for artistry
Did you catch those recent cool, artsy Instagram shots of Kardashian in a bubblegum pink ensemble? North snapped them!
North has photographed her mom from various angles, including a birdseye view and a close-up of her blinged-out bag. That’s just the beginning of her artistic skills. She’s also a talented painter.
“She’s a really, really good artist, and she loves to paint,” Kardashian told Vogue in a video interview this year. “[North] does little paintings for me like this wolf. She did do one of our bearded dragon.”
Some serious pipes
North really inherited her dad’s musical talents. When she’s not rapping in public, she can been seen performaing a truly sparkling rendition of Encanto‘s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”
“North and Ryan are still talking about Bruno! And it’s still stuck in my head lol,” Kardashian captioned the impressive video.
A stylist in the making
Kim Kardashian appeared on the cover of Vogue in March 2022, alongside all of her kids. One of the stylists for the shoot? North West herself.
Vogue author Jen Wang noted that Saint was given his colorful, stylish look by his little sister. “He’s wearing, appropriately, a lime-green Kawasaki shirt picked out by North, who has styled all the kids,” she wrote. Check out the cute photos HERE!
The apple of her grandmother’s eye
If you want further proof of North’s star status, just check out what her grandma Kris Jenner has to say about her.
Jenner took to Instagram to share a sweet birthday message for her granddaughter last year. “You are truly such a ray of sunshine and you light up every room with your amazing smile and huge heart,” she wrote. “You are so funny, talented, smart, and so creative!! You are an amazing daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend. I love watching you grow and I am so proud of you each and every day.”
Also, the candid pictures of the two of them in that post are pretty darn cute.
She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself
It’s clear North West doesn’t like the paparazzi, and often calls them out. Back in 2022, while walking to her waiting car after eating with her mom, North asked the photographers a very pointed question. “Why do you have to wait for us all the time?” North asked the paparazzi while smiling.
North also was the pinnacle of sass at Paris Fashion Week in 2023, holding up a piece of paper that said “Stop” to the paparazzi.
She’s already made her Broadway debut
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s eldest daughter performed as Young Simba in the 30th anniversary live concert special of Disney’s The Lion King at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which led to mixed reviews. (But hey, let’s not trash kids, okay?!)
She’s a music video star & rap artist
For North’s debut album, her dad Kanye West showed how she’s so focused on creating amazing content and music videos. He previously posted, saying, “TALKING VIDEO TREATMENT BY YOUR BESTIE MS MS WESTIE.”
