Pat Sajak is not returning to the syndicated game show for Season 42, but he will be hosting one last season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. The spinoff launched in 2021 with Sajak and longtime letter turner Vanna White at the helm. It allows celebrity contestants to spin the infamous wheel and solve puzzles for a chance to win $1 million, which is donated to a charity of their choosing. In the years since the primetime version of the game show debuted, countless celebrities have won the grand prize, including Melissa Joan Hart, Caroline Rhea and Brendan Hunt.

Sajak, for his part, gave an emotional farewell speech on the show. “The time has come to say goodbye. I have a few thanks and acknowledgments before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there,” he told the viewers at home. “It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade, and I’ve always felt that the privilege came with a responsibility to keep this daily half-hour a safe place for family fun, no social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing, I hope, just a game.”
