The upcoming TV series set in the world of The Office has added three new hires to the team.

Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young have joined the cast of the new Peacock workplace comedy from the U.S. Office co-creator Greg Daniels and Nathan For You's Michael Korman, a rep for NBCUniversal confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.

The news first broke after the Palisidian-Post in Pacific Palisades, Calif., reported that the three actors have been shadowing staff at the newspaper to prepare for their roles.

The series had previously cast Domhnall Gleeson (About Time) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) as two of the primary employees at its central business: a failing Midwestern newspaper relying on volunteer reporters. The connection to the Office-verse comes in the series' framing — the media workplace will be captured by the same fictional documentary crew that covered Dunder Mifflin on the original American series for nine seasons.

Gregg has appeared on shows like Snowfall, American Vandal, and Nine Perfect Strangers. He also starred as a fictional NBA player navigating a lockout in Steven Soderbergh's High Flying Bird, and appeared in other movies like The Blackening, House Party, and The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

Frei previously acted on shows like Sideswiped, The Last O.G., The Time Traveler's Wife, The Cleaning Lady, and Poker Face.

Young starred in movies like Blockers, Unpregnant, and Wendell & Wild. She also was a series regular on Never Have I Ever, Legends of Tomorrow, and Z Nation.

Steve Carell, who starred as the bumbling regional manager Michael Scott on The Office, has said that he's aware of the new series but won't be involved in any capacity.

"I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It's just a new thing and there's really no reason for my character to show up in something like that," Carell told The Hollywood Reporter. "But I'm excited about it, it sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea — I guess it's set in a family newspaper company, and I worked with Domhnall Gleeson, who is one of the leads. I did The Patient with him and he's an excellent actor and a super nice guy so I think it'll be great."

Since the new Office series is set in the same universe as the beloved NBC show, the door is presumably open for past Dunder Mifflin employees to cross over onto the new show. It's unclear whether the forthcoming series will opt to fulfill that potential — but if it does, there are a number of prior cast members who have maintained their connection to the original show.

Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey have hosted the Office Ladies recap podcast for nearly five years, while Leslie David Baker unsuccessfully tried to crowdfund a spinoff based on his character, Stanley. Additionally, Rainn Wilson, Craig Robinson, Kate Flannery, Brian Baumgartner, Creed Bratton, and Fischer recently reunited for an Office-themed AT&T commercial, so they're certainly not distancing themselves from the series at this point.
