Offset Channels Michael Jackson For “Fan” Music Video
Offset has released new visuals for his latest single, “Fan.”
The rapper channels his inner Michael Jackson throughout the footage as he pays homage to some of the icon’s most familiar looks. Set taps into MJ’s Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad eras, dressing up as the “King of Pop” from his “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal” videos.
Offset also manages to sneak in a nod to Jackson’s legendary Motown 25 appearance, where he landed the Moonwalk for the first time live on stage. In an official press release, the entertainer referred to the video and his upcoming LP as “healing.” “This body of work is healing for me and a letter to my fans and supporters,” he expressed.
Lyrically, the song discusses a relationship that appears to be on the rocks. He begins the track in a melodic rap delivery, crooning about a love lost. But as the verse continues, Set shifts his attention towards his critics.
“Tired of stressing about what I can’t control/I think I’m better on my own/I kicked all the f**k ni**as out my circle They don’t know how that sh*t feel, that really hurt you,” he raps “But i’m nonchalant, they never gonna know/Word to my mama, she ain’t never raised no h*e/My heart ain’t racing, it’s barely beating slow If they want smoke, if I see them it’s a go/Its F**k that ni**a, f**k that bi**h/F**k everybody, cause you know they gon switch/F**k them ni**as and them bi**hes, everybody.”
Offset’s sophomore solo album, Set If Off, is set to arrive on Oct. 13, 2023.
