Offset, Quavo Pay Homage To Takeoff On Anniversary Of Death
Offset and Quavo paid respect to Takeoff on the one-year anniversary of his death. On Tuesday (Oct. 31), Qua took to Instagram to pay respects to his nephew and former bandmate. “Can’t forget it won’t Forget It NEVER Forget it ??? I Remember,” he captioned a black and white photo of Take. Quavo also uploaded multiple fan-edited pictures of the fallen rapper and videos to his IG Story. One video included Quavo and Takeoff playing basketball inside their house, showing the natural bond between the two artists.
Set celebrated the rapper’s life on Wednesday (Nov.1) with video footage documenting the “priceless” moments spent with Take.
“The times we spent is priceless what we built in this game they never wanted to give us our flowers we influenced the world… I Love you Take you still here with us I just know you are!!!! Migo 4Life!!!!!!” the caption reads. The video featured an edited version of “The Last Memory,” laid over Floetry’s “Say Yes” instrumental. Clips form the video included the Migos performing together, Takeoff throwing money in the club, and the trio celebrating their success.
Takeoff, a member of the Atlanta-based trio Migos, died at age 28 on Nov. 1, 2022. The entertainer, né Kirsnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed in Houston. The shooting transpired around 2:30 am at Billiards and Bowling as Ball was hanging with his uncle and fellow Migos bandmate, Quavo. Two other people at the scene were shot and taken to hospital, Houston Police confirmed, with Quavo unharmed.
Most recently, Takeoff’s alleged killer appeared in court, maintaining his innocence while arguing self-defense. Rolling Stone reported that the man, Patrick Xavier Clark, appeared before a judge on Thursday (Oct. 26). Clark was arrested in December 2022 for the rapper’s death based on ballistics evidence. Still, the suspect’s legal team is claiming self-defense.
“He maintains his innocence. We do believe that he has a valid self-defense claim. I don’t think they can say with any degree of certainty that it was Patrick who actually fired the shot that took Takeoff’s life. There was someone else who started the shooting, it was not Patrick Clark,” defense attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins told the outlet.
“He was in the same position that Takeoff was in, he was trying to get out of there alive as well. He didn’t have anything to do with the argument that occurred. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when people started firing weapons.”
Patrick Xavier Clark was previously indicted by a grand jury and charged with murder in May 2023.
Clark’s next court date is Jan. 23, 2024.
