Olivia Rodrigo Is Surprise Plus-One at Venice Film Festival to Support Boyfriend’s ‘Disclaimer’ Debut
The Venice Film Festival got a surprise cameo from one of the world’s most popular pop stars Thursday night.
Olivia Rodrigo — currently on a break from her Guts World Tour before it resumes in Bangkok on Sept. 15 — jetted to Italy and made a low-key appearance to support boyfriend Louis Partridge’s role in the Apple TV+ limited series Disclaimer. The occasion marked the couple’s public debut at an official event though they did not pose on the red carpet together outside Palazzo del Cinema. They did, however, attend a cocktail reception at the Hotel Excelsior before the world premiere as well as a post-screening reception at Palazzina Grassi, and they were captured in paparazzi images going to and fro. Vogue covered Rodrigo’s outing and described her ensemble as “a vision of the ’90s.”

Rodrigo also captured some photographic evidence herself. She was spotted filming Partridge during the show’s official introduction at Sala Grande where Disclaimer received a warm standing ovation. The first four episodes debuted during the screening with the additional episodes also showing during a separate screening event. Told in seven chapters, the Apple Studios series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Renée Knight. The ensemble cast features Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lesley Manville, Leila George, South Korean star Hoyeon and Partridge.

Disclaimer casts Blanchett as acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, a woman who built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets.
Partridge comes to Disclaimer after having starred in Argylle, The Lost Girls, Paddington 2 and the Enola Holmes franchise opposite Millie Bobby Brown. He also recently wrapped a role in the upcoming Noah Baumbach untitled film opposite the likes of Adam Sandler, George Clooney, Riley Keough, Emily Mortimer, Billy Crudup, Eve Hewson, Laura Dern, Isla Fisher, Patrick Wilson, Greta Gerwig and more. Disclaimer will be released worldwide on Apple TV+ on Oct. 11 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday.
