Olivier winner Sarah Snook is bringing ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ to Broadway
Sarah Snook will be reprising her Olivier-winning performance in “The Picture of Dorian Gray” on Broadway next spring. She plays 26 characters in this acclaimed version of the Oscar Wilde classic. Kip Williams adapted the novel about a vain man whose beauty is his downfall and directed this one-woman show.
Snook first took on this acting challenge in 2020 at the Sydney Theatre Company, where Williams is the artistic director. After she wrapped production on the final season of “Succession,” they took the show to London for a sold-out run. Take a look at the trailer for the West End edition of the show above.

Announcing the transfer, Williams said, “I was so humbled by the response from audiences in London to ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray,’ and I could not be more thrilled to be bringing this work to Broadway. It has been extraordinary to witness the way Oscar Wilde’s story continues to resonate with people today. I am so excited for audiences in New York to experience our show and to see the tour-de-force performance Sarah Snook gives in bringing to life the many characters in this new adaptation of Wilde’s remarkable story.”
Marg Horwell designed the sets and costumes (she reaped an Olivier bid for the latter). Lighting design was by Nick Schlieper, David Bergman did the video design, and Clemence Williams handled both the sound design and music.
Snook’s “Succession” co-star Jeremy Strong was on Broadway last season in a revival of the Ibsen classic “An Enemy of the People.” He won the Best Actor Tony for his performance as the conflicted Doctor Thomas Stockmann. They both picked up Emmys for their work on this HBO family drama, he for season 2 in 2020 and she for season 4 in 2023.
