Jena Malone knows a good song when she hears one.

Especially when it comes to dancing with her son, Ode Mountain, whom she shares with Ethan DeLorenzo, in their home. The two last boogied to Taylor Swift's "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."

"He loves cuss words now because he’s 8, and she’s like, 'Lights, camera, bitch, smile,' ” Malone tells PEOPLE in this week's issue.

"We were blasting it in the living room, dancing our butts off."

Last obsession
I just finished a CERT class, which is community emergency response team, and signed up to be a volunteer firefighter in Burbank. I’m so obsessed with emergency prep and daydream about getting the neighborhood together and what kind of drills we’re going to do.

Last perfect day off
Before my son, I would lie in bed. Order food all day. Binge-watch any dating reality show, simultaneously playing solitaire on my phone.

Last moment of bliss
At the celebration for the end of second grade, my son got an award. As soon as he got it, he looked up and found my eyes. I love when we get to share those little unspoken moments together.

Last time I was starstruck
When I met Patti Smith, who did a song on Hunger Games, at one of the premieres. She was so kind and cool, and I was just like, “I don’t even know what to do with my hands.” We took a photo, and I’m so glad because I don’t remember actually being there.
