One Piece Season 2: Katey Sagal to Play Dr. Kureha; Dr. Hiriluk Also Cast
Netflix is paging Katey Sagal (Married… With Children, Sons of Anarchy) for a key role in the upcoming second season of One Piece.
The Golden Globe Award-winning actress is set to portray Dr. Kureha, an eccentric medical professional who crosses paths with Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates during their quest for the titular treasure. In other medicinal casting news, Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent) is joining Season 2 as Dr. Hiriluk.

Jamie Lee Curtis, a known fan of One Piece, was previously in talks to play Dr. Kureha, but she ultimately wasn’t able to make it work with her busy schedule.
“She loves the show, [but] she has too many films and TV shows that she’s going into production on, so our production dates aren’t going to work,” Tomorrow Studios president Becky Clements recently revealed. “She definitely wanted to do it, but she’s got deals in first position, and it just became complicated.” On the bright side, Clements added that “an amazing person” has been found to fill the vacant role — and now we know who that person is.

A live-action adaptation of I?aki Godoy’s long-running manga series, One Piece dropped its eight-episode first season in August 2023. Production on Season 2 began in June 2024. A return date is not yet known.
