Find out which series regulars are slated to return.
Back to Tree Hill, North Carolina, we go, y’all!
A One Tree Hill sequel series is in development at Netflix, according to Variety and Deadline.
Original stars Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton are set to reprise their roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively, in addition to serving as executive producers. Daneel Ackles, who is currently in talks to return as Rachel Scott, will executive produce along with her husband, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles. Becky Hartman-Edwards (Firefly Lane; Parenthood) is attached to write and executive produce for Warner Bros. Television.
One Tree Hill premiered in 2003 and ran for nine seasons on The WB network and the CW. The coming-of-age drama set in the fictional town of Tree Hill also starred Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Austin Nichols, and Antwon Tanner, among others. There is no word on whether or not other original stars will return, though there have been “informal conversations” with other members of the cast.
The One Tree Hill sequel is said to take place 20 years after the original, following best friends Brooke and Peyton “who are now parents to teens and facing challenges not unfamiliar to what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities, and grief,” reports Deadline.
One Tree Hill was shot in and around Wilmington, North Carolina.
This is a developing story.
