Just last week, Reese Witherspoon announced her September pick, The Comfort of Crows by Margaret Renkl. Now, a week after adding Witherspoon’s book to our shopping cart, Oprah Winfrey is chiming in with her suggestion.
“I’m really happy to share a book that I think is perfect for this time of year, it’s Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout,” Winfrey said in her Instagram announcement.
“[Strout’s] delivered another heartfelt and a beautiful story, returning to the fictional town of Crosby, Maine, to delve into the interconnected lives and loves of all the residences there,” Winfrey continued. “Tell Me Everything has all the things, romance, mystery, secrets and even a possible murder experienced through the unrecorded lives of just ordinary folks.”
While the book can be read as a standalone novel, many of Strout’s characters from her previous novels, including Winfrey’s other recommendation Olive, Again, reappear in this story. But if you’ve never read any of Strout’s work, rest assured you won’t be missing anything. “Everything you need to do is contained in the pages of this marvelous book,” Winfrey said.
