Which of Oscars 2024 stars may or may not have used Ozempic to cut weight for Hollywood’s biggest night
Weight loss injectables like Ozempic and Wegovy are Hollywood’s drugs of choice — so did anyone use them in preparations for the 2024 Oscars?
The Daily Mail spoke with Dr. Gary Motykie, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, about A-listers looking “slimmed down” at Sunday’s awards show more than in previous years.
The speculation comes after Oprah Winfrey, 70, trimmed herself off WeightWatchers’ board of directors after admitting to using a prescription weight loss medication. “The Color Purple” producer sparked rumors about using this type of medicine during the musical film’s premieres in December.
These are the Oscar attendees that made Motykie wonder about their routines. The Post has contacted reps for each celeb on this list for comment.
America Ferrera
Motykie told the Daily Mail that the 39-year-old “Barbie” star’s lack of toning on her body could suggest a build-up of muscle mass, which could mean she is on weight loss drugs.
“We don’t see that same muscle mass and toning with her [as other celebrities], just fat loss,” he told the outlet.
“This makes me suspicious for the possible use of semaglutide or other weight loss drugs,” he said of the injectable used to treat Type 2 diabetes and control blood sugar.
Brendan Fraser
Motykie claimed to the Daily Mail that he believes that “The Whale” actor, 55 — who weighed 300 pounds when the flick was filmed in 2021 — may have used Ozempic, but came off of it before Oscar Sunday.
“There are several pictures of him [from before the Oscars] where he looks a lot more gaunt, a little bit like an ‘Ozempic face’ [— where the skin is loose],” Motykie said.
“But we do see here in this Oscar’s picture that he is maybe having a little bit of a rebound and getting a bit of volume back. I haven’t seen any information on him talking about his work out, diet, lifestyle changes — that is why I am a little suspicious.”
Catherine O’Hara
The “Home Alone” star, 70, appeared to have a toned frame at the Oscars, but Motykie told the Daily Mail that it seems unlikely that she is using a weight loss drug.
Emily Blunt
“I think she looks great,” Motykie told the Daily Mail about the “Oppenheimer” star, 41, claiming he does not think she used Ozempic or another weight loss drug due to her significant muscle mass.
“She maintains the same body frame, has the same tone to her and muscle mass — and so I think semaglutide is unlikely,” he explained.
Jesse Plemons
The “Killers of the Flower Moon” star, 35, has openly discussed changing his eating habits to slim down. Motykie believes this move, as well as his hours in the gym — not a weight loss drug — have made all the difference.
“I really do think this is down to his lifestyle, the reason is he is very vocal about his lifestyle changes,” he told the Daily Mail.
“And then, secondly, for a pretty consistent period over a long period of time — not just a month or two — he has been losing weight,” he continued.
“So it looks to me like he has committed to those lifestyle changes and you can really see it in his body. He has some tone on him, so he is likely putting in the hard work in the gym rather than using semaglutide,” Motykie concluded.
Melissa McCarthy
Similar to Plemons, Motykie told the Daily Mail that he thinks the 53-year-old “Bridesmaids” star’s slimmed-down physique is due to lifestyle and diet changes rather than weight loss drugs.
Lupita Nyong’o
Due to her apparent muscle mass, Motykie claimed he sees no signs of the “Black Panther” star, 41, utilizing any weight loss drugs.
“When you look at her, she is toned, she is fit, she has got muscle mass. Those things suggest to me that she is working out and putting the work in and is not just ‘skinny fat,'” he explained.
“When people take Ozempic they are not gaining muscle they are actually losing muscle mass — meaning they don’t have the fitness look you see with Lupita,” Motykie said.
