'Outlander' Star Sam Heughan Shares New Photos From Season 7B

The second half of Season 7 of Outlander is still a few months off, but thanks to Sam Heughan’s recent Instagram, there is a little bit of relief from the Droughtlander with the release of several new photos that hint at what’s to come in the new season.

The reason that Sam’s post simply says, “One word: Scotland” is when we last left Jamie (Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe), they had set sail for Scotland. First, because Jamie had promised his sister Jenny (now played by Kristin Atherton) that he would bring Young Ian (John Bell) home, but, secondly, because in order to get permission to board a ship, he had to agree to oversee the return of the body of Simon Fraser of Balnain (Angus Macfadyen), who fought on the side of the British, to Scotland.

The journey home to Lallybroch will be full of memories and familiar faces that haven’t been seen since Jamie and Claire first boarded a ship to chase after Young Ian, who had been shanghaied. The three then ended up in the New World and haven't returned to Scotland since.

Once back at Lallybroch, Jamie has a confrontation with Laoghaire (Nell Hudson), the woman he married when he thought Claire was in the future never to return. And, if the series follows the book, Laoghaire will ask Claire to return to America to help with Henri-Christian, who has a medical issue. This is a big story point because it puts Claire and Jamie on separate boats back to America. But no spoilers here.

While there,Roger encounters his ancestor Geillis (Lotte Verbeek), from who he inherited his ability to time travel, and Jamie's uncle Dougal (Graham McTavish), who fathered Lotte's child, so also an ancestor.
