Off Color is based on Thiele’s unconventional adopted family. The logline reads, “He’s gay and Black, they’re all Jewish, his mom should be on Real Housewives and his cousin’s a former party girl turned Rabbi-in-training. The comedy is about a son who doesn’t want to grow up, a mother who has no intention of letting him, and a dad who’s probably faking a nap in the other room so he doesn’t have to engage.”
Brian Gallivan (Shrinking, The McCarthys) is set to serve as showrunner on Off Color, which is currently in the development stages. Thiele and Gallivan will exec produce alongside former Comedy Central topper Kent Alterman and his top lieutenant turned producing partner, Sarah Babineau, of their Good Walk Entertainment banner.
Ilana Glazer will also exec produce, marking a reunion for her with Alterman and Babineau, the executives who developed Broad City. Amazon MGM Studios is the studio. Thiele’s manager at Entertainment 360, Susie Fox — who also reps Glazer — will also be credited as an exec producer.
Thiele’s credits include episodes of Hacks, Dollface and I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson. He’s additionally repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson.
