Ozzy Osbourne returns to Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 for first time in 30 years

The post Ozzy Osbourne returns to Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 for first time in 30 years appeared first on Consequence of Sound.

At 70 years old, Ozzy Osbourne finds himself in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 alongside the likes of Lizzo, Billie Eilish, and more artists less than half his age. Of course, he has the 24-year-old Post Malone to thank for the chart feat.

Ozzy sings the hook on Post Malone’s new track, “Take What You Want”, which also features a guest spot from rapper Travis Scott. The tune debuted at No. 8 on the Hot 100 songs tally, joining three other Post Malone tunes in the Top 10.

“Take What You Want” marks the first time Ozzy has landed a single that high on the Hot 100 since his “Close My Eyes Forever” duet with Lita Ford also hit No. 8 in 1989.

The 30 years and three months between Top 10 showings sets a new Billboard record. The feat narrowly surpasses the 30 years and two months it took for Dobie Gray to land in the Top 10 between his 1973 hit “Drift Away” and his own guest appearance on Uncle Kracker’s cover of the song in 2003.

The track appears on Post Malone’s new album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The song’s producer, Andrew Watt, ended up working on Ozzy’s upcoming solo LP, which the metal icon recently called the “greatest album I’ve done.”

The encouraging chart news comes during a tough year for Ozzy, who had to postpone all of his 2019 tour dates due to a nasty fall at home. His “No More Tours 2” dates have been rescheduled for 2020. Pick up tickets here.
