After much anticipation, production for season three of P-Valley is officially underway in Atlanta.

The riveting drama has also promoted three recurring guests to series regulars and added a new face to the mix. Gail Bean (Roulette), Bertram Williams Jr. (Woddy), and Thomas Q. Jones (Mane) were all upped to series regulars as Mea Wilkerson joins, playing the role of a new dancer named Haiku who thrives on chaos and seeks solace in the messiness that fuels her spirit.

After the explosive season two finale in August 2022, fans have been on edge waiting to find out what happens next. When catching up with Bean, Shannon Thornton, and Brandee Evans at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards, VIBE scored a preview of what viewers can expect.

“We’re going to pick up where we left off. [Hall] keeps things under wraps [but] it’s going to be exciting and it’s going to have all of the amazing things that you love to see to take it to the next level,” said Thornton.

Evans added, “Mercedes done had her last dance [but] I’m hoping that you see more of Mercedes being a mother, and seeing more of what she does outside the club.”

P-Valley was renewed for a third season in October 2022. Of the renewal, series creator Katori Hall shared in a statement, “I am blessed beyond measure for this opportunity to write the next chapter of P-Valley. With its complex, dynamic, and beautifully flawed characters, this show is a love letter to marginalized communities in the American South who rarely see themselves reflected on screen, and it brings me immense joy to know that it has been embraced by folx worldwide.”

Hall concluded by thanking the “fiercely devoted Pynk Posse,” and all those who make the show with “great love, grit, and glitter.” She did share that it was going to take a “Mississippi minute” before the series returned, “but best believe it’ll be well worth the wait.”
